Welcome to the 10th Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival (UMFF)!
As Korea¡¯s only international mountain film festival, UMFF has climbed one peak after another over the past nine years, thanks to your continued love and support. We now stand at the foot of our tenth peak.
Held in the heart of the Yeongnam Alps, our festival has long been a space where nature and people coexist, and where Ulju connects with the world. This year, under the slogan ¡°Come Up Higher, Cinemountain,¡± we present 110 films from 43 countries from around the world, sharing stories of nature, human, challenge and coexistence.
We have also expanded our venues beyond the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center to include ¡°Ulju Cinema,¡± which launched this past July, offering greater accessibility and comfort. We are also presenting special 10th anniversary programs such as ¡°10 Years, 10 Films¡± and ¡°Guest Country : Himalaya - NEPAL¡±.
Building on the success of this milestone year, we now set our sights on the next 20 and 30 years. We thank you for your continued love and support, and invite you to enjoy a heartwarming and delightful experience with mountain cinema, surrounded by the beauty of Ulju¡¯s autumn landscapes. Thank you.
As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival (UMFF), I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cherishes and supports our festival.
Born in the embrace of the Yeongnam Alps, our festival has become a treasured legacy shaped by nature, man, and the local community over the past decade. Despite the challenges of being a less mainstream genre with limited accessibility, UMFF has grown into a ¡°uniquely Korean mountain film festival¡± through continuous effort and bold ambition.
Over these ten years, UMFF has also evolved into a global platform for mountain culture, successfully hosting the International Alliance for Mountain Film(IAMF) General Assembly in 2024. The return visits of world-renowned mountaineer like Reinhold Messner, recipient of this year¡¯s Ulsan Ulju Mountain Culture Award, are a testament to that growth.
At the same time, we remain committed to our role as a festival that presents meaningful films centered on mountains, nature, and human. These cinematic portrayals of majestic nature and vibrant life offer new perspectives beyond our daily lives, becoming a source of inspiration, empathy, and deeper understanding of the world.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey to our 10th edition.
