One step in light and one in shadow. This is how the Himalayist ascends, as if entering and leaving life and death itself. Sometimes the shadow closes in... Hire Himalaya is the homage to the lost companion, the confession of an intimate break, a poem about loneliness.
An alpinist's mourning for his lost brother flows through the silence of black and white — until the moment fluttering prayer flags burst into color, and the film crosses from loss to hope. Breaking away from the conventions of the expedition documentary, this film forged a new path as a 'visual poem', proving that a climbing film can be both a letter and a poem.
