SYNOPSIS

The poetic documentary depicts bittersweet everyday life of two grannies living isolated on the hills of Eastern Bosnia. The film emphasizes the intangible cultural heritage, through the presentation of chants and rituals for taming the adverse weather, hail, and storm.

NOTE

¡á UMFF2020 Grand Prize

The simple, humble dinner of two elderly women, their daily tending of the potato field, and their chanting of prayers to calm the storm are depicted like a still-life painting, evoking a poem. In particular, the close-up of their working hands invites deep reflection.
