Reinhold Messner, Hans-Peter Stauber
On 8th May 1978 Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler were the first humans to reach the 8,848m high summit of Mount Everest without additional oxygen. Therewith they exceeded a limit which wasn¡¯t considered to be possible and initiated a new era of Alpinism.
In this film, the living legend Reinhold Messner authentically corroborates his historic ascent through 16 mm archival footage and reenactments. Beyond summiting, it is filled with lessons applicable to our lives, emphasizing the importance of a safe descent, the attitude of a traditional mountaineer, and the insights gained through numerous failures.
