Mt. Soi in Cheolwon, long closed to the public since the Korean War, has recently reopened, a landscape that has healed itself from the scars of conflict. On its slopes, new eco-guide Mi-ryoung meets her experienced senior, Myung-hee. As they practice their guide scripts while climbing, their professional tour of the mountain¡¯s history triggers a powerful, personal journey into their own memories of war and loss.
Inspired by my grandmother¡¯s story of following ants to escape tanks during the war, this film explores how memories of loss are always nearby. For some, war is a story of the past; for others, it is a reality that continues today, like a landmine still buried. Using the landscape of Mt. Soi, I brought together characters from different generations to show that we can connect over our shared pain.
