Butterfly Bhutan follows Sonam Phuntsho, a devoted Buddhist who quietly battles a harmful tradition of hoisting prayer flags on the trees in Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city. Sonam’s journey reflects how one person’s quiet commitment can inspire collective action and restore balance between faith and nature. 

Butterfly Bhutan was inspired by Sonam Phuntsho’s selfless mission to save trees from harmful prayer flag practices. The film advocates mindful traditions, urging respect for both culture and environment through responsible action.
