Min-ah has been given many labels, such as single by choice, office worker, disabled person, actress, and activist. On the day of her friend Hyun-kyung¡¯s wedding, Min-ah encounters a lost little black Chihuahua. She names the dog Maru and slowly begins to learn about the life Maru has lived, the time she endured simply to be ¡°cute.¡± ¡°Maru, what do you see now?¡±
Actress Kyung-min told me about the three taboos forced upon women with disabilities: dating, marriage, and childbirth. This film was made through reflection on how we could become a bit freer from those.
[Lee Hyun-bin, Director]
Born in Seoul in 1988, I relocated to Gunsan in 2022 with Maru. In Seoul, my resolve to live as a filmmaker existed only as an incompetent presence without financial means. Rather than change myself, I chose to change where I lived. I aim to create films about the people and spaces that Korean society confines to the realm of shame.
