SYNOPSIS
As the only road leading to the Caucasus mountain region of Tusheti, Georgia, closes for 7 months of winter, a handful of holdouts remain.
NOTE
In remote Tusheti, Georgia, a dwindling highland community grapples with rural depopulation, intergenerational change, and Soviet memory—offering a rare glimpse into alternative ways of living, collective resilience, and an uncertain path into the future.

Robert Hope is a documentary filmmaker based in San Francisco. His short doc, Placekeepers premiered at Big Sky and is screening internationally. His previous doc, Heaven on Earth, about the matriarch of an L.A. ex-commune, screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals. He also creates public health documentaries for the Center for the Art of Medicine.
